Northern Ireland-based Titanic Studios gets £14m Extension |
14 Aug 2014 | Titanic Studios, the production facilities in Northern Ireland where ‘Game of Thrones’ is shot, is to add two stages as part of a £14 million (€17.5 million) upgrade. The facilities, which sit on an eight-acre site in Belfast, received the greenlight for the expansion plans from Northern Ireland’s environment minister Mark H. Durkan on Tuesday. The extension will provide an additional 100,000 sq. ft. of production facilities, which will increase the site to more than 250,000 sq. ft. |

TV3 has ordered ‘Oysters’ from UK indie Alaska TV |

Northern Ireland Screen launches €52m Funding Plan |
01 Apr 2014 | Following on from the major success of ‘Game of Thrones’, which added €105m (£87m) to the local economy, Northern Ireland is now hoping to encourage more high-end TV and film productions to the area. A new four-year €51.9m (£43m) plan is being launched by Northern Ireland Screen, the region’s funding body. The scheme, called ‘Opening Doors’, will run up until 2018 and hopes to develop Northern Ireland into a major screen industry. |
