Actress Sorcha Furlong launches The Gaiety School of Acting’s Autumn Programme for 2014
15 Sep 2014 | ‘Fair City’ actress Sorcha Furlong was recently on hand with actors Marnie McCleane, Stephen O’Leary and Dave Rowe as well as GSA Director Patrick Sutton to help launch the forthcoming Autumn/Spring 2014/15 programme at The Gaiety School of Acting – The National Theatre School at their HQ on Essex Street West, Temple Bar. Sorcha, who plays Orla Kirwan in the popular RTE series ‘Fair City’, previously completed an evening course at the school when she was younger.

Jack Reynor Cast in ‘Jungle Book: Origins’
22 Aug 2014 | Warner Bros. Pictures has assembled an impressive roster of stars for ‘Jungle Book: Origins’, its new big-screen, 3D adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic ‘The Jungle Book’, marking the feature film directorial debut of Andy Serkis. The action adventure, which will blend motion capture and live action, will be released worldwide beginning October 21, 2016. The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

Trailer for ‘’71’ Released
22 Aug 2014 | The official trailer for the highly-anticipated thriller ‘’71’ has been released. ‘’71’ stars Jack O’ Connell (‘Skins’, ‘Starred Up’) as a young British soldier who is accidentally abandoned by his unit during a riot in Belfast in 1971. Trapped for the night and unable to distinguish friend from foe, the soldier must survive alone and find a means of escaping.

Theo James and Eric Bana in Talks for ‘Secret Scripture’
11 Aug 2014 | Following the news of young Irish actor Jack Reynor (‘What Richard Did’, ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’) joining the cast for the highly-anticipated film adaptation of ‘Secret Scripture’, Variety.com has since reported that actors Eric Bana and Theo James are also in talks to join the cast.

11 Aug 2014 | Idris Elba ('Luther', 'Prometheus', 'Thor') will star in and produce ‘A Hundred Streets’ (originally called ‘One Square Mile’), the feature debut of Irish director Jim O'Hanlon. The feature, which also stars Gemma Arterton (‘Quantum of Solace’, ‘Byzantium’), Adam Bakri (‘Omar’) and Franz Drameh (‘Edge of Tomorrow’, ‘Now is Good’), has begun production.

Casting continues for TV3’s new Soap ‘Red Rock’
11 Aug 2014 | The casting process for TV3’s brand new soap ‘Red Rock’ got underway last week with two Dublin casting sessions at the John Player Factory on the South Circular Road held last Saturday and Sunday. The first open casting session attracted hundreds of hopefuls, and the coming week will see the search continue for stars of the show with regional casting sessions in Cork, Limerick, Belfast and Galway.

01 Aug 2014 | ‘Mammal’ is the latest feature from Irish director Rebecca Daly, who previously helmed ‘The Other Side of Sleep’. Her new project, which was granted funding from the Irish Film Board and from the Luxembourg Film Fund, is a love story about a woman who takes in a homeless child after her own son goes missing.

Feature film on Irish banking crisis ‘The Guarantee’ begins shooting in Dublin

New Irish feature film The Guarantee, which recreates the drama surrounding the Irish banking crisis in 2008 has begun shooting in Dublin this week. The film’s casting has already raised some eyebrows with Irish actors taking on roles of some of the most talked-about political and financial figures in modern Irish history. The film will tell the story of the bank guarantee given by the Irish government in 2008 to secure the domestic banking system, beginning the story four years before and charting the origin of that pivotal decision.

Eve Hewson in Talks to Star in Spielberg Thriller
22 Jul 2014 | Steven Spielberg will be producing and directing what is an as-yet-untitled new Cold War thriller for Dreamworks, and none other than Irish actress Eve Hewson has been attached to the project. Deadline.com first reported the news that Hewson is in talks to join the project and also reported that production is set to commence in September with shooting on location in New York and Berlin.

21 Jul 2014 | Twenty two year old Wicklow native Jack Reynor (‘What Richard Did’), who most recently appeared in Dublin for the premiere of ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ and was in Galway last week for the premiere of ‘Glassland’, will return to Ireland for his next movie role in the film adaptation of Sebastian Barry’s ‘The Secret Scripture’.
