Irish Shorts at the GAZE LGBT Dublin Film Festival
29 Jul 2014 | Following the announcement of a ‘Best of Irish’ Double Bill to feature the Dublin premiere of ‘African Pride’ and an exclusive sneak peek at footage from ‘The Queen of Ireland’, GAZE continues to support Irish film and proudly presents another programme of LGBT shorts this year. The six short films to be screened at the 2014 festival are ‘Coming Out Of the West’, directed by Cian Tracey, ‘Me First’ by Leanne Byrne, ‘I Am’ by Anna Rodgers, ‘Who Am I To Feel So Free’ by Dylan Hennessey, ‘Becoming Kiki’ by John Corcoran, and ‘The Usual’ by Ruth McNally.

Irish Cycling Documentary ‘Rough Rider’ to be Broadcast on RTE Tonight
28 Jul 2014 | Rough Rider, a new Irish documentary produced with the support of the Irish Film Board, follows contentious journalist and cycling whistleblower, Paul Kimmage, as he searches for answers to difficult questions about doping in the world of professional cycling. The film will be broadcast tonight on RTE One to correspond with the end of the Tour de France.

Deadline for ILBF Training Schemes This Thursday

The Skelligs in Kerry to Feature in ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’
25 Jul 2014 | ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ will reportedly shoot scenes on Skellig Michael in Kerry. Online speculation suggests that the World Heritage Site will possibly act as the location for Luke Skywalker’s Jedi Academy. Skellig Michael, or Great Skellig, is the larger of the two Skellig islands off the coast of County Kerry.

24 Jul 2014 | Irish director Ciarán Foy’s Sinister 2 will open in US cinemas in late Summer 2015 on August 21st. The film, produced by Blumhouse Pictures and Entertainment One and which will be released by Focus Features in the US is the sequel to the 2012 hit which starred Ethan Hawke and grossed almost $100 million from $3 million budget.

Feature film on Irish banking crisis ‘The Guarantee’ begins shooting in Dublin

New Irish feature film The Guarantee, which recreates the drama surrounding the Irish banking crisis in 2008 has begun shooting in Dublin this week. The film’s casting has already raised some eyebrows with Irish actors taking on roles of some of the most talked-about political and financial figures in modern Irish history. The film will tell the story of the bank guarantee given by the Irish government in 2008 to secure the domestic banking system, beginning the story four years before and charting the origin of that pivotal decision.
