Limerick To Get New Multi-Million Euro Production Studio
25 Nov 2014 | Plans for a new multi-million euro film production hub in County Limerick have been set in motion. An agreement has been arranged between Limerick City and County Council and Ardmore Studios, which in the past has provided facilities for several popular film and television productions such as ‘Braveheart’, ‘Excalibur’, ‘The Tudors’ and ‘Camelot’, and more recently for ‘Frank’ and ‘Penny Dreadful’.

Ardmore Studios Calls on Government To Provide €15m Infrastructure Fund to Support Growth in Audio-visual Industry
14 Nov 2014 | Siún Ní Raghallaigh, Chief Executive of Ardmore Studios, has stated that while Ireland’s film and TV production industry are poised to gain substantially from the benefits of the newly enhanced film tax credit scheme (Section 481), desired growth is hindered by the lack of sufficient studio space and facilities to enable these benefits to materialise.

It’s a Wrap! ‘Vikings Series 3’ Enters Post-Production
07 Nov 2014 | Hit History Channel series ‘Vikings’ has recently completed filming its third series on location in Co. Wicklow. The series was commissioned for a third season last March. It started filming last June and will now enter post-production in Toronto.

Northern Ireland-based Titanic Studios gets £14m Extension
14 Aug 2014 | Titanic Studios, the production facilities in Northern Ireland where ‘Game of Thrones’ is shot, is to add two stages as part of a £14 million (€17.5 million) upgrade. The facilities, which sit on an eight-acre site in Belfast, received the greenlight for the expansion plans from Northern Ireland’s environment minister Mark H. Durkan on Tuesday. The extension will provide an additional 100,000 sq. ft. of production facilities, which will increase the site to more than 250,000 sq. ft.

Studio Shortage Threatens Future Film & TV Production in Ireland
24 Jun 2014 | It has been reported by the Sunday Independent that a number of senior Hollywood executives recently visited Ireland to look at potential locations and infrastructure for a film adaptation on ‘Artemis Fowl’ - based on the popular young people’s science fiction novels by Wexford writer Eoin Colfer. The Hollywood production, which is being developed by Disney and the Weinstein Company, has a reported budget of $100m. However, the shortage in studio space could result in delays and the cancelation of future film and television productions in Ireland.
