Northern Ireland-based Titanic Studios gets £14m Extension
14 Aug 2014 | Titanic Studios, the production facilities in Northern Ireland where ‘Game of Thrones’ is shot, is to add two stages as part of a £14 million (€17.5 million) upgrade. The facilities, which sit on an eight-acre site in Belfast, received the greenlight for the expansion plans from Northern Ireland’s environment minister Mark H. Durkan on Tuesday. The extension will provide an additional 100,000 sq. ft. of production facilities, which will increase the site to more than 250,000 sq. ft.

Irish Horror ‘The Devil's Woods’ Enters Post Production

Written and directed by Anthony White, the film is about a group of friends who are trying to maintain their fractured relationships. Theo James and Eric Bana in Talks for ‘Secret Scripture’
11 Aug 2014 | Following the news of young Irish actor Jack Reynor (‘What Richard Did’, ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’) joining the cast for the highly-anticipated film adaptation of ‘Secret Scripture’, Variety.com has since reported that actors Eric Bana and Theo James are also in talks to join the cast.

Barry Keoghan and Rachel Griffiths for ‘Mammal’
01 Aug 2014 | ‘Mammal’ is the latest feature from Irish director Rebecca Daly, who previously helmed ‘The Other Side of Sleep’. Her new project, which was granted funding from the Irish Film Board and from the Luxembourg Film Fund, is a love story about a woman who takes in a homeless child after her own son goes missing.

The Skelligs in Kerry to Feature in ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’
25 Jul 2014 | ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ will reportedly shoot scenes on Skellig Michael in Kerry. Online speculation suggests that the World Heritage Site will possibly act as the location for Luke Skywalker’s Jedi Academy. Skellig Michael, or Great Skellig, is the larger of the two Skellig islands off the coast of County Kerry.

Ciarán Foy’s Sinister 2 to be released in Summer 2015
24 Jul 2014 | Irish director Ciarán Foy’s Sinister 2 will open in US cinemas in late Summer 2015 on August 21st. The film, produced by Blumhouse Pictures and Entertainment One and which will be released by Focus Features in the US is the sequel to the 2012 hit which starred Ethan Hawke and grossed almost $100 million from $3 million budget.
