22 Mar 2012 | Paolo Sorrentino's feature film 'This Must Be The Place' is showing in cinemas across Ireland from 23 March. The movie, which is an Irish/Italian co-production, was partially filmed on location in Dublin during August 2010 with actors Sean Penn (Mystic River), Frances McDormand (Fargo) and musician David Byrne joined by Irish talent such as Kerry Condon (The Runway), Simon Delaney (Touch), Olwen Fouere (Space Truckers) and newcomer Eve Hewson.

'Ripper Street' Begins 19-week shoot in Dublin
21 Mar 2012 | ‘Ripper Street’, an eight-part series for the BBC based on the Jack The Ripper murders, has begun filming in various locations around Dublin. Created by Richard Warlow (Waking the Dead) and starring Matthew Macfadyen (Pride and Prejudice, Frost/Nixon), Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones) and Adam Rothenberg (House), ‘Ripper Street’ is currently using a Dublin army barracks and the area in and around Dublin Castle to re-create London's East End in 1889.

Jason O’Mara cast in CBS’ Ralph Lamb pilot
21 Mar 2012 | Irish actor Jason O’Mara (Terra Nova) has been cast in CBS’ forthcoming Ralph Lamb pilot. The Dubliner will join an all-star cast that includes Dennis Quaid, Michael Chiklis and Carrie-Anne Moss, according to Deadline. The as-yet-untitled project has been scripted by Nicholas Pileggi (Goodfellas) and is set in 1960s Las Vegas. It will be directed by James Mangold (Walk The Line, Cop Land).

Thaddeus O’Sullivan & Stephen Rea to attend this week’s Boston Irish Film Festival
20 Mar 2012 | Thaddeus O’Sullivan and Stephen Rea head up a number of Irish filmmakers set to take part in the Irish Film Festival, Boston, which begins this Thursday and runs until Sunday.

The festival, the largest Irish film festival in the US, will also play host to more than 30 Irish films, including Terry George’s Oscar-winning short, ‘The Shore’, the US premiere of ‘Stella Days’ and a 60th anniversary screening of ‘The Quiet Man’.

'Vikings' TV Series Eyes Summer Production Start Date for History Channel
20 Mar 2012 | The History Channel has ordered a full-series of ‘Vikings’, the Irish co-produced 10-part series which is due to begin pre-production next month. The series, which will chronicle the world of the Norsemen during medieval times, will be the first scripted drama to air on the cable network TV channel and will also be the first to make use of Joe O’Connell’s newly-built Ballyhenry Studios in Ashford, Co Wicklow, which has been constructed for a reported cost of €22m.

The second series will begin production in the coming months and will be filmed in Ireland as well as an as-yet-unrevealed “exotic location”.
