Northern Irish director Brian Kirk (Game of Thrones) has reportedly entered talks to direct ‘The Osterman Weekend’ for Lionsgate/Summit Entertainment and Captivate Entertainment.
The conspiracy thriller is based on Robert Ludlum’s 1972 novel and was previously turned into a 1983 film by Sam Peckinpah.
The much in-demand Kirk is currently in pre-production on ‘Midnight Delivery’ for Universal, which he will direct with Guillermo Del Toro producing. He is also reported to be developing Sony’s ‘Paper Wings’ with Tom Cruise attached, according to Deadline.
Co. Armagh native Kirk has previously helmed a string of big budget TV productions, including ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Luck’ and ‘Boardwalk Empire’ for HBO.
‘The Osterman Weekend’ tells of a man, John Tanner, who is visited by a reporter who tells him that his friends aren’t who he thinks they are. When the reporter is killed, Tanner is caught up in a spiral of doubt and paranoia. It will be adapted from Ludlum’s novel by Simon Kinberg and Jesse Wigutow, and produced through Davis-Panzer Productions, Genre Films and Captivate.
