Film & TV Production in Ireland Overview 2013
: By Kevin Cronin
Some of the productions filmed in Ireland this year.
Film and TV production in Ireland has continued to thrive in 2013, as Ireland maintains its status as a major filming location for home-grown and international productions through a combination of section 481 tax incentives, world-class facilities and stunning locations that no amount of green screen CGI trickery can replicate.

As we enter the month of August, IFTN presents an overview of some of the production highlights so far this year - from the violent gangland drama of ‘Love/Hate’ and the savage battles of ‘Vikings’ to Cecelia Ahern’s romantic comedy ‘Love, Rosie’ and Ken Loach’s period drama ‘Jimmy’s Hall’.

The following presents strong evidence that Ireland continues to punch above its weight on the international stage and shows no signs of slowing down in the foreseeable future…

Love/Hate

Stuart Carolan’s IFTA-winning gangland drama has rewritten the rule book on what RTE drama is capable of and delivered an Irish equivalent of ‘The Wire’ that is now enjoying ratings success on Channel 5 in the UK. With filming now complete on season 4, Irish fans have a lot left to look forward to.
