24 Apr 2012 | Irish actor Cillian Murphy’s forthcoming feature ‘Broken’ will open next month’s Cannes Critics’ Week, which runs from May 17 - 25 as part of the Cannes Film Festival. Based on the novel by Daniel Clay, the Rufus Norris-directed drama has been adapted for the screen by Irish writer Mark O’Rowe (Perrier’s Bounty, Intermission). It tells the story of an 11-year-old girl living in North London whose innocence is shattered when she witnesses a violent assault.

BBC Comedy ‘Vexed’ Wraps Production In Ireland
24 Apr 2012 | BBC detective comedy ‘Vexed’ has completed filming in Dublin and is currently in post-production at Windmill Lane. Produced by Ireland’s Newgrange Pictures and UK company Eleventh Hour Films, the six-part detective comedy began shooting in the capital in mid-January before wrapping its 12-week shoot earlier this month.

Irish Sci-Fi Thriller 'Dark By Noon' In Production
24 Apr 2012 | Irish sci-fi thriller ‘Dark By Noon’ is set to resume shooting next month for one week before moving into post-production. The feature film, a co-production between Vico Films and IKKA Films, shot for five weeks in Dublin over the Christmas period and is currently having visual effects added. It is co-written and co-directed by Alan Leonard and Mike O’Flaherty. O’Flaherty also produces for IKKA Films alongside Vico’s Cormac Fox.

TG4 Appoints Producer Siún Ní Raghallaigh As New Chairperson
24 Apr 2012 | Donegal-born producer Siún Ní Raghallaigh has been appointed Chairperson of the Board of TG4. Ní Raghallaigh is a former director of marketing and development at TG4. She previously worked with Tyrone Productions, the company responsible for ‘Ros na Rún’ and the ‘All Ireland Talent Show’, before establishing her own independent television company Ikandi Productions, which produced the documentary ‘Off The Beaten Track’ in 2011. Ní Raghallaigh currently sits on the board of the Galway Film Fleadh, which will take place over July 10-15.

The ‘Game of Thrones’ actor caused a Twitter frenzy just over a week ago after tweeting a number of hints that he filmed scenes for series five in Wales. The BBC confirmed the news to IFTN on Friday (April 20).
