Irish scriptwriter Paul Walker (The Clinic) has been chosen to attend the European éQuinoxe Writers Workshop in Bergen, Norway, after submitting his script for feature film ‘Ms. Mansfield and Me’.
Paul will attend the workshop with producer Michael Garland (Death of a Superhero) to finalise the script with mentors from the film industry. A total of 10 scriptwriters will take part in the week-long event.
The non-profit organisation éQuinoxe Germany acts as an ambassador and supporter of European filmmakers on an international level. Media Europe, the organisation ran by the European Union which is aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of the audiovisual industry in Europe, runs the event, which takes place in Norway this year. The event has been running for 11 years.
‘Ms. Mansfield and Me’ tells the story of two brothers attempting to set up a five-star hotel in Tralee during the controversial Jayne Mansfield-debate in 1967. The Hollywood starlet’s scheduled cabaret appearance was cancelled due to the outrage of a local parish priest who persuaded residents of Tralee to rally around him.
Paul will fly out to Norway on May 3 to work on his script with yet-to-be-announced mentors. Once the script is finalised, Paul plans to get production up and running by assigning a director and other crew members.
