The winners of the Dare2BDrinkAware have been announced with WideEyed Media’s ‘Draw the Line’ crowned Best Overall Film.
The winners of the Dare2BDrinkAware competition were announced at an awards ceremony on 29 April. WideEyed Media’s ‘Draw the Line’ walked away with both the Best Overall Film award and the Best Production prize. The project looks at the ready availability of alcohol in modern Irish family homes.
The event’s Best Performance title went to Johnny + Ivars ‘So, What Happened Last Night?’, a mockumentary that looks at the destructive effect alcoholism is having on a guy by the name of James Fox. Best Concept went to MIM Productions’ ‘Give a Dog a Bad Name’ which was also a First Runner-Up in the Best Overall Film category. The project takes a mockumentary approach to exploring alcohol usage in Irish universities.
The Public Vote Winner on the night was Lynch Productions’ examination of a girl faced with a choice who makes the wrong decision, ‘A Serious Mix Up’. Maire Media’s ‘Silent Drinking’ which explores the rise in alcoholic liver disease in young Irish people, especially women was the second runner up in the Best Overall Film group.
As part of the Digital Hub’s Dare2BDrinkAware 2010 digital filmmaking competition the participating teams were challenged to creatively explore the relationship between Irish culture and drinking through considering the values, attitudes and behaviours that young adults have in relation to alcohol.
