DARE2BDRINKAWARE.ie today launched their student film and multimedia competition, with this year’s theme focusing on the increase in home drinking and the impact this trend has on student life.
Now in its 5th year, the film and multimedia competition incites third-level students to develop film and multimedia projects that promote the responsible use of alcohol, while at the same time challenging anti-social drinking behaviours.
This year’s theme is ‘drinking in a home environment’. Commenting in advance of the launch, Chief Executive of drinkaware.ie Fionnuala Sheehan said ”There has been an increase in levels of home drinking, and this has had particular consequences for students. Tomorrow, we’ll be outlining how drinking in a home environment can pose risks for students and increase the likelihood of over-consumption of alcohol. These are issues we’re hoping students themselves will highlight in their entries to DARE2BDRINKAWARE.ie 2012.” Representatives from drinkaware.ie attended the launch along with winners from the 2011 competition.
The Prizes for the 2012 competition include a €5,000 prize fund with winning entries in Film and Multimedia, selected by judges and by an online public vote, will win €1,000. Entrants must be third level students which will be presented at an awards ceremony in April 2012.
Entry forms are available online at dare2bdrinkaware.ie, which must be completed and emailed to info@DARE2BDRINKAWARE.IE before 5pm on November 25th 2011.
