Oscar nominated and IFTA winning writer and director, Juanita Wilson will deliver a keynote address to ‘Drink Aware’ Film and Multimedia Students at the DARE2BDRINKAWARE ceremony on Thursday, April 7th in Dublin. Shortlisted projects include multimedia submissions such as online comics and i-phone games.
Organised by The Digital Hub and sponsored by drinkaware.ie, the competition challenges students to explore the relationship between Irish culture and drinking through a film or multimedia project.
Eleven teams of filmmakers and multimedia producers – hailing from Limerick IT, IT Tallaght, Cavan Institute, Athlone IT and Letterkenny IT – will be in with a chance to win a share of €5000 in prize money at the awards ceremony. Wilson will be joined at the event by RTÉ and Lyric FM Presenter John Kelly who will present an award at the event, along with representatives from 3e, the Irish Film Institute and SiliconRepublic.com.
The projects shortlisted include Ciaran Philips’ website ‘A Different Perspective’; T.J. Fogarty and Roy Duggan’s Drinkaware comic; Catharina Demmel’s i-phone game, Do You Know (pictured); Andrew Healy’s Skype-based project, Night to Remember and online game, Memore Gamble. The nominated short films competing at the event tonight include Jessica Louise Pitcher’s ‘Through the Mirror’; Ciara Kennedy’s ‘Babes in Bits’; Aaron Woods’ ‘The Ignorant Truth’; Ray Burns’ ‘U-Booze’ and Delay No More Productions’ ‘The Conversation’.
