Irish Producers Attend ‘Produced By’ Conference in Los Angeles

Irish Crew Join Simon Staho's 'Flowers of Desire', Ireland Shoot Begins July 4th
08 Jun 2011 | Shooting for Subotica’s Irish/Danish co-production ‘Flowers of Desire’ will begin on July 4th and the film will be shot entirely in Ireland (Wicklow area) over seven weeks. Further Irish crew members confirmed on the shoot include costume designer Kathy Strachan (The Clinic, Spin the Bottle) and production designer Fiona Daly (The Clinic, When Brendan Met Trudy). The Danish language film will be shot on digital by DOP Herald Gunnar Paagard (As It Is In Heaven). Post production in Denmark will be managed Kasper Leick (Terribly Happy).

'MILO' Shoot Begins in Dublin, Berend & Roel Boorsma Directing
19 May 2011 | Cameras have started to roll on the set of ‘Milo’ an Irish-Dutch coming of age film starring Stuart Graham (Hunger), Jer O'Leary (Savage), Laura Vasiliu (4 Months, 3 weeks, 2 days) Charlotte Bradley (About Adam); Dolf de Vries (Black Book) and newcomer, Lorcan Bonner in the title role. The film is directed by brothers Berend and Roel Boorsma, who have also written the script together with Heather Imani.

Generator Entertainment Scout Irish Film Locations for 'The Federation'
11 May 2011 | Belfast’s Generator Entertainment is currently in development and sourcing Irish locations for new feature film, ‘The Federation’. The spy thriller is set to shoot in September and October of this year and will mark the feature film directorial debut of English writer Sven Hughes (Ghost Machine, Roach). Casting for the film is currently underway.

'Titanic: The Untold Story of How it All Began' Drama Docks in Dublin
21 Apr 2011 | Italian production company, The DeAngelis Group (DAP) is currently in pre-production with a 12 x one hour drama series, ‘Titanic: The Untold Story of How it All Began’. Produced by Guido deAngelis (Ti Stramo, The Borgia) the series is set to shoot in Dublin this summer.

IFB Announce €2m Funding Decisions
14 Apr 2011 | The latest round of Irish Film Board funding decisions have been announced. The funding decisions include development, production and distribution financial support and were published on Wednesday, April 13th. The decisions see support offered to projects such as a new feature entitled ‘Broken Dream’ written by John Boorman (The General) and Neil Jordan (Ondine), to be directed by the latter as well as Neil Jordan’s other feature project, ‘Skippy Dies’. In all, approximately €2,000,000 has been awarded.

Interview: 'Your Highness' Danny McBride Talks about filming in Northern Ireland
13 Apr 2011 | The medieval Irish co-production, ‘Your Highness’ opens in cinemas nationwide today, April 13th. The feature shot on various locations across Northern Ireland last year and sees ‘Pineapple Express’ actor Danny McBride (who also co-scripted the feature) star alongside Zooey Deschanel (500 Days of Summer), Oscar nominee, James Franco (127 Hours) and Oscar winner, Natalie Portman (Black Swan). On the morning of its Irish release IFTN spoke with Danny McBride about bringing the large production to Northern Ireland, teaching Franco and Portman everything they know and the possibility of bringing the production back for a sequel.

Fassbender & Holmes Feel 'Good Vibrations', Belfast Shoot Confirmed
31 Mar 2011 | Northern Irish production companies, Revolutions Films and Canderblinks are currently in development with ‘Good Vibrations’, a feature film centring around the Belfast-born founder of Good Vibrations records, Terri Hooley. The feature, developed with funding from the IFB, is scheduled to shoot in August 2011 in and around Belfast with actor Michael Fassbender (Hunger) signed on to appear.

'Roy' Series Two Live Action & Animation In Production
30 Mar 2011 | Production on the live-action part of the second series of ‘Roy’ will wrap on Friday, 1 April. The RTS winning series, re-commissioned by BBC will now move into Jam Media’s animation studio for the next eight months.

29 Mar 2011 | Belfast born double Oscar nominated screenwriter and director Terry George (Hotel Rwanda, In the Name of the Father) is to return to his home town in April to start shooting ‘Whole Lotta Sole’, a heist comedy starring US actor Brendan Fraser (The Mummy), and Irish actors Colm Meaney (Parked) and Martin McCann (Swansong: the Story of Occi Byrne, Killing Bono).

McKenna & McCann 'Jump!' NI Filming Underway
22 Mar 2011 | Production has commenced on the set of new Irish co-production, ‘Jump!’ from Dublin’s Blinder Films and Northern Ireland’s Hot Shot Films. Kieron J. Walsh (RAW, The Savage Eye) directs the feature which is currently shooting in Derry and Belfast with stars Charlene McKenna (RAW), Martin McCann (Killing Bono), Ciaran McMenamin (Outcast).

€100,000 Investment in New Cork Screen Commission
22 Feb 2011 | Cork City and County Councils announced their plans yesterday, February 21st as to the establishment of a Cork Screen Commission. The launch marks an immediate investment of €100,000 in the region’s indigenous film industry and the Commission will act as the primary point of contact for companies working or intending to work on location in Cork.
