‘Star Wars Episode VII’ Adds Lupita Nyong’o
Luipta Nyong’o has joined the cast of ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’, which is currently in production in London and Abu Dhabi. Nyong’o made her feature film debut in ‘12 Years a Slave’, with a performance which earned the 31 year old the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. ‘Game of Thrones’ star Gwendoline Christie has also been added to the cast, though it has not been revealed what characters the actresses will play.

The film is being directed by J.J. Abrams with a script from Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. The cast already includes Domhnall Gleeson, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Max von Sydow, John Boyega, and Daisy Ridley, and features the return of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker to the franchise. John Williams, who wrote the famous ‘Star Wars’ theme, returns as composer.

Lucasfilm president and ‘Episode VII’ producer Kathleen Kennedy stated, “I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of ‘Episode VII’. It’s thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape.” Kennedy is producing with Abrams and Bryan Burk.

The movie is scheduled to open in theatres worldwide on December 18, 2015.

Oliver Stone to direct Edward Snowden film
Oliver Stone, three-time Oscar winner and director of American classics such as ‘Platoon’, ‘JFK’ and ‘Born on the Fourth of July’, has nabbed the rights to ‘The Snowden Files, The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man’ with his long-time producing partner Moritz Borman. Stone will write and direct, and has already started to write the screenplay.

‘The Snowden Files’ was an account of events surrounding the Guardian newspaper’s reporting of disclosures provided by Edward Snowden. It was written by journalist Luke Harding who, along with other Guardian journalists, will serve as production and story consultants on the film. American whistleblower Snowden was a contractor at the National Security Agency who leaked thousands of classified documents to the Guardian in June 2013.

Stone has said, “This is one of the greatest stories of our time. A real challenge. I’m glad to have the Guardian working with us.” Guardian editor-in-chief, Alan Rusbridger, has stated, “The story of Edward Snowden is truly extraordinary, and the unprecedented revelations he brought to light have forever transformed our understanding of, and relationship with, government and technology. We’re delighted to be working with Oliver Stone and Moritz Borman on the film.”

The film is being conceived as a European co-production. It will start filming before the end of the year.

Trailer for ‘The Green Inferno’
Open Road Films have released a full-length trailer for horror film ‘The Green Inferno.’ It portrays a group of privileged New York college students going on a trip to the Amazon to save the rain forest, only for their plane to crash and to find that that it isn’t necessarily their help that the forest inhabitants want…

The film is based on Ruggero Deodato’s 1980 pulp film ‘Cannibal Holocaust’, and is directed by Eli Roth. Roth previously helmed horrors ‘Cabin Fever’, ‘Hostel’ and ‘Hostel: Part II.’ He also wrote ‘The Green Inferno’ with Guillermo Amoedo.
