Gyllenhaal for drama ‘Demolition’
Jake Gyllenhaal (‘Donnie Darko’, ‘Zodiac’) is in early talks to star in ‘Demolition’, a drama directed by ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ helmer Jean-Marc Valleé with a script from Bryan Sipe. The film sees a young investment banker who struggles with emotional disconnect after his wife passes away. He starts to tear his life apart to bring meaning back into his life, but meets a woman in a chance encounter who changes his life.

Firms Black Label and Mr. Mudd. (‘Juno’, ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’) are financing and producing through Molly Smith, Thad Luckinbill and Trent Luckinbill for Black Label, and Lianne Halfon, John Malkovich, and Russell Smith for Mr. Mudd. Jason Reitman and Helen Estabrook are executive producers with Vallée’s producing partner and manager Nathan Ross.

Jean-Marc Valleé has described the film as “a powerful and touching story, written with a strong and sincere desire to try to understand the human psyche, what makes us so unique, so special, what makes us love. This is a script of a rare quality, of a beautiful humanity.”

New Director & Writer for ‘Ant-Man’
Marvel has announced that Peyton Reed has been assigned to direct the new superhero movie ‘Ant-Man’ with Adam McKay to help script it. The news follows Edgar Wright’s departure as director, who left the job over alleged creative differences. Reed directed ‘Yes Man’, ‘The Break-Up’ and teen pic ‘Bring It On’. McKay co-wrote and directed the Will Ferrell starrer ‘Anchorman’ films, and formerly wrote for ‘Saturday Night Live’.

Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas have been cast as the leads in ‘Ant-Man’, with Rudd playing the title hero and Douglas playing his mentor. Marvel website describes the plot as such: “Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.”

Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena, Corey Stoll and Patrick Wilson are supporting cast members.
