‘Avatar 2’ to use underwater motion-capture technology James Cameron is well known for his groundbreaking technological advancements that he incorporates into his films, and now, it has been announced another innovative technique will feature prominently in his next film, the sequel to one of the most successful films of all time, ‘Avatar 2’. Censored version of ‘Django Unchained’ to be released in China According to reports, Quentin Tarantino is preparing a censored version of his western action film ‘Django Unchained’ specifically tailored for the Chinese market. Tarantino’s latest film was known for its unflinching scenes of violence and significant use of blood but to satisfy Chinese authorities, he has decided to tone down the violence and cut scenes that contain an excessive amount of blood. Even though this might seem as a compromise for Tarantino at first, this is the first time that a Tarantino film will receive a general release in mainland China. Hollywood’s relationship with China seems to be improving in recent years; up until recently, Chinese audiences favoured domestic releases over Hollywood films but latest trends have revealed that China is now the second largest international market for Hollywood films, just behind Japan. It was also revealed last week that China’s state-backed broadcaster CCTV’s China Movie Channel and Jiaflix Enterprises will co-produce the next installment in the Transformers franchise, further signifying Hollywood’s growing relationship with China.
