Danny Boyle planning sequel to ‘Trainspotting’ with original cast Danny Boyle has announced that he is planning a sequel to the seminal1996 British film ‘Trainspotting’. He is currently at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas to promote his latest film ‘Trance’, starring James McAvoy and according to reports, he is planning to reunite the original cast – Ewan McGregor, Ewan Bremner, Jonny Lee Miller, Robert Carlyle, Kelly McDonald – for a sequel to ‘Trainspotting’ in 2016. Screenwriter John Hodge, who wrote the script for ‘Trainspotting’, is currently working on a script, but Boyle confirmed that the sequel will not be a direct adaptation of ‘Porno’, the novel written by Irvine Welsh as a sequel to the original ‘Trainspotting’.
Christopher Nolan to write and direct new sci-fi film ‘Interstellar’ Christopher Nolan has signed on to direct ‘Interstellar’, a new science-fiction film set for release in 2014. Nolan is also set to re-write the script originally written by his long-time collaborator and Brother Jonathan Nolan. As well as this, two major studios, Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros., will team up to co-produce the film; Paramount will handle domestic distribution whilst Warner Bros. will handle international duties. ‘Interstellar’ has a group of explorers travelling through a wormhole and consequently encountering alternate dimensions and travelling through time. The script is said to be inspired by the work of renowned physicist, Kip Thorne.
Watch the trailer for Irish sci-fi film ‘Earthbound’ Irish sci-fi comedy ‘Earthbound’ will be released this week on Friday 15th March. Shot in Dublin last year, the film stars Rafe Spall (I Give it a Year, Life of Pi) as Joe Norman, an alien from the planet Zalaxon who is tasked with finding a suitable mate so he can finally settle down. As well as this, he has to defend himself against a group of aliens who he believes are hunting him down. Written and directed by Alan Brennan, ‘Earthbound’ was co-produced by Ireland’s Ripple World Pictures and Paper Dreams.
