River Phoenix’s ‘Dark Blood’ Screens, Rumoured for Cinema Release… The last film that River Phoenix ever made was screened at the Berlin Film Festival yesterday, nearly 20 years after his death. ‘Dark Blood’, a western which Phoenix had not completed shooting, was originally shot in 1993, and is expected to be released theatrically in the next couple of years, despite controversy arising over who is the rights holder. Directed by George Sluizer, ‘Dark Blood’ stars Phoenix as a young widower who lives out in the desert, believing the end of the world is nigh. When he offers to help a couple who have car trouble, Phoenix holds the female character hostage, believing he can make a life with her. Recently, director Sluizer revealed he provided his own voice-over work for the uncompleted scenes following Phoenix’s death.
James Bond Joins World Wide Web With Online Video Service Blinkbox… Online video service Blinkbox, which is owned by Tesco, has acquired the James Bond catalogue after striking a deal with MGM. Blinkbox has the rights to 23 James Bond films, including 2012’s ‘Skyfall’, which was the highest grossing Bond film of all time. Blinkbox is making the Bond films available to download from next week.
A Good Day At The Box Office For ‘A Good Day To Die Hard’… The fifth film in the ‘Die Hard’ franchise, ‘A Good Day To Die Hard’, directed by Irish man John Moore, grossed $840,000 at midnight screenings in the US last Wednesday night. The film played at more than 2,000 locations. Starring Bruce Willis and Australian actor Jai Courtney, the action thriller is expected to gross more than $40 million by Monday February 18. The film is in Irish cinemas now.
