Mortetz lands lead role in ‘Carrie’ remake …… Deadline are reporting that ‘Kick Ass’ actress Chloe Moretz has landed the lead in MGM’s new adaptation of Stephen King’s classic horror novel ‘Carrie.’
Following a meeting with the film’s director Kimberly Peirce (‘Boys Don't Cry’), the 15-year-old tweeted: “Never been so happy in my life! Thank you Kim Pierce and thank u MGM for the chance of a lifetime I will never forget!”
Cannes announces short film jury….. Belgian filmmaker Jean-Pierre Dardenne, winner of two Palme d'Or awards, will preside over the Short Films jury at this year’s Cannes Film Festival (May 17-27). Also on the jury are Canadian actress Arsinee Khanjian, Brazilian writer/director Karim Ainouz, French writer/director Emmanuel Carriere, and Chinese filmmaker Yu Lik-Wai.
Fox ditches ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ publicity..... The Guardian are reporting that Fox has removed all current trailer and posters of Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn’s forthcoming comedy following controversy surrounding a Florida teenager's death.
17-year-old Trayvon Martin was shot by a community watchman last February and the studio fears that scenes in the trailer, which shows Stiller and Co as members of a community safety group, may be insensitive to the dead teenager’s family. The film is due for release in Ireland at the end of August.
