Directed, written and produced by Philip Anthony McCarthy (The Dark Room), ‘The Vein Within’ is currently shooting on location in Cork City and county. Filming began on the no-budget feature in August and will be finishing in November.
Based on a true story, ‘The Vein Within’ journeys into the world of drug barons and street dealers. Writer Philip A. McCarthy penned the screenplay over six years and drew on his own experience with drugs and addiction. ‘The Vein Within’ tells the story of the love of a girl for a boy, the love of an addict for his fix, the drug lords love for his wayward daughter and how these stories intertwine in the complicated world of ‘The Vein Within’. Writer/Director McCarthy hopes it will bring to light the dark world of addiction.
Cast in the feature include Don Baker (No Justice, Underworld), Trevor Kearney, Colin Kelleher and Evanna Kearney. The gritty feature is being filmed on JVC HD by cameraman Vaughan Buckley. Aidan Quinn is doing sound on the film. Original music will be composed by Patrick K Ahern.
