Wild Rover and Fujisankei Communication International (FCI) Productions are to create the 8x40 minute series for UKTV’s comedy channel Dave.

Irish comedian Dara O’Briain (Mock the Week) will host the show which will show how maths underpins everything in the world around us. Dara will use numbers and equations to solve two problems on every show, while a second comedian will attempt a solution with more physical methods.

The show is based on the Emmy-award nominated Japanese comedy-panel format Comaneci University of Mathematics, created by actor-director, Takeshi Kitano for Fuji TV.

The show has been commissioned by Richard Watsham, Commissioning Editor, UKTV and ordered by Steve North, General Manager for Dave. Executive Producers for the show are Richard Watsham, Katherine Parsons and Phil Morrow.

Phil Morrow of Belfast based production house Wild Rover said “This is a very funny and original take on maths that is guaranteed to surprise and entertain the Dave viewers. We’re extremely lucky to be working with Dara O Briain on this – his passion for maths knows no bounds."

The series will air on Dave in 2012.
