Sean Maguire & Lorna Anderson Head Cast of 'Seven Songs for Amy'
04 Jul 2011 :
Sean Maguire in 'Seven Songs for Amy'
Sean Maguire (Meet the Spartans, Eastenders) has been cast alongside Scottish actress Lorna Anderson (River City) to play leading roles in Sonny and Skye’s new Irish comedy ‘Seven Songs for Amy’.

Set in contemporary rural Ireland, the feature will see Sean Maguire take on the male lead as singer and musician Sean O’Malley who loses the love of his life and tries to win her back. Lorna Anderson is cast alongside Sean as his love Amy, with Dubliner Kevin J. Ryan (Laredo, Tripping Tommy) playing a successful global pop star who charms the leading lady.

Directed by BAFTA nominated Konrad Begg (Top Gear), the feature will start shooting in August in Kinerva, Galway city and Lough Cutra Castle in Gort, Co Galway followed by a short period of filming in New York in September. Other cast members joining the film include Ford Kiernan (Still Game), Barry Ward (Silent Witness) and Ross McMahon (Boy Racer) as band members and Olwyn Boyle (Take Me Out, Fair City) as the gypsy ‘Lilt’. Sonny and Skye Productions say they are “thrilled” with the cast.

The screenplay is written by Fiona Graham who is also producing alongside Ford Kiernan, Angela Murray and executive producers John McDonnell of Fantastic Films (Song for a Raggy Boy, Zonad) and Mairi McLellan of Sonny and Skye Productions. Original music in the film includes songs by Jim McKee, Ultan Conlon and Patrick Bergin.
