Production is currently underway on the set of Stephen Patrick Kenny’s ‘Blood, Sweat and Wars’. The feature is based on two fictional travelling families but is based on true events that have taken place in Galway as of 1987.
It is expected that the shooting of ‘Blood, Sweat and Wars’ will conclude by August 9th. As mentioned above the film is based on two fictional travelling families, the Longs and the Burkes, Galway’s biggest drug suppliers – the film looks to introduce audiences to Galway’s unknown underground crime scene featuring scenes of bare-knuckle fighting and young boys being sold as escort slaves.
The cast includes former Olympian Francie Barrett, Joe Egan (Sherlock Holmes), Richard Grimes (Freight), Graham Feeley (Kings), Emma Eliza Regan (The Fading Light), Eugene Horan (Ghostwood), David Sullivan and Mark McCormack.
From One Shot Entertainment, the film was written, produced and will be directed by Galway man Stephen Patrick Kenny (actor, Showbands) who tells us he plans to submit the film to film festivals following its completion – an approach that he feels will compliment the feature’s controversial subject.
Principal photography of ‘Blood, Sweat and Wars’ began in Galway on April 26th. The director of photography is Kamil Krawczak (still photographer, Carpe Millenium) who will also edit the piece. Music for the film has been composed by Martin Plaza (Tenderhooks)
