Broadway Films have announced that they will be representing Irish director Karl Golden (The Honeymooners, Belonging to Laura) for commercials in the UK market. Golden, who has just completed his third feature film, is the first Irish director that Broadway Films’ MD Toby Courlander has signed since he started the company at the end of 2009.
Karl Golden recently directed ‘Belonging to Laura’ a feature length drama which was produced for TV3 and loosely based on Oscar Wilde’s ‘Lady Windemere’s Fan’. The director also wrote and helmed the feature film ‘The Honeymooners’ and has directed several short films, including ‘Beached’, ‘Still Rain’ and ‘Dogsbody’. Broadway Films have brought us productions such as Jason Zada’s ‘Leader’, ‘Viens me le Dire’ from No Brain and Tom Routson’s ‘Blind Date’ ad for Heineken.
“I saw a preview of Karl’s film ‘Pelican Blood’ and was taken aback by the calibre of his direction and the strength of his imagery,” Toby Courlander tells IFTN. “Karl’s films are one great moment after another, and his ability to bring out wonderful performances on incredibly tight schedules really impressed me. He also has bags of Irish charm, and I’m absolutely certain he will be a great success in the world of commercials.”
