Dublin-based composer John Walsh has scored the music to a new ad campaign promoting this year’s Olympic Games in Beijing, set to roll out in 26 countries worldwide in the run up to the games in August.
The ad, produced by the UKs Dab Hand Media, portrays the world’s top athletes as super heroes, as they battle it out to conquer the universe. The piece features sports stars including tennis player Roger Federer soaring through the air whilst smashing oncoming meteorites with his tennis racket.
Walsh produced and recorded the music in his Sandycove-based studio.
“Dab Hand Media had seen my work and approached me to do the ad,” Walsh told IFTN. “The idea was to do something that felt like a film trailer. It’s based on the idea of the Marvel Comic super heroes, so the music had to be energetic and portray pride, passion and glory.”
Walsh’s music has featured on ad campaigns for clients including Guinness, Carlsberg and Vodafone. He has penned the title music for The Premiership, The World Cup and The Six Nations for RTÉ Television. His music has also appeared in RTÉ series ‘Proof’ and ‘Rebellion 1798’.
