CR Entertainment Merges With beActive Intl, 'The Knot' Feature In Production

The company’s Managing Director, Triona Campbell tells IFTN that the is a result of an investment beActive made into CR Entertainment in 2010, an investment which was matched by Enterprise Ireland who are also now share holders in the company. beActive’s first major project, feature film ‘The Knot’ is already in production in London.

Speaking about her company’s move in to feature film production, Triona tells us that: “Movies were the one platform we hadn’t ventured into before and we wanted to bring the knowledge we learned in relation to story-telling and marketing across multiple platforms to the big screen. We have been looking into this area for a while and as soon as we read the script we knew that this was the one for us to start with” She also told us of her plans to bring future feature film projects to Ireland, saying: ”For the future our hope is that our next few screen adventures after this will be shot in Ireland, provided we can find support here.”

The group’s current feature project, ‘The Knot’ is being produced by New Treatment and Unstoppable Entertainment in association with beActive. The wedding rom com stars Mena Suvari (American Beauty), Talulah Riley (Pride & Prejudice), Matthew McNulty (Looking for Eric) Noel Clarke (Centurion), Jason Maza (Fish Tank) and Juliet Oldfield (Bronson). The feature is co-written by Davie Fairbanks, Geoff Carino and BAFTA award winning actor, writer and director Noel Clarke (Kidulthood) and directed by ‘Mash Up’s Jesse Lawrence.

Asked whether beActive’s will now concentrate solely on producing feature films, Triona says ”The company’s focus is still the same - trans media. We will continue to develop, produce and sell multi platform projects internationally.”
