Generator Entertainment Scout Irish Film Locations for 'The Federation'
11 May 2011 | Belfast’s Generator Entertainment is currently in development and sourcing Irish locations for new feature film, ‘The Federation’. The spy thriller is set to shoot in September and October of this year and will mark the feature film directorial debut of English writer Sven Hughes (Ghost Machine, Roach). Casting for the film is currently underway.

Kavaleer Productions Prep 'Abadas' New Animated Series
11 May 2011 | Kavaleer Productions are currently in pre-production with Welsh animation studio, Dinamo Productions on a new 52 x 11 minute pre-school series entitled ‘Abadas’ for CBeebies, RTÉjr and S4C. Kavaleer will commence production on the series this summer and continue working on the multi-media series for 40 weeks.

'The Irish of 9/11' Documentary in Pre-Production
10 May 2011 | Motive Television is currently in pre-production with ‘The Irish of 9/11’, a documentary examining the lives of Irish people who lost friends and family in the infamous New York disaster. The documentary will start to shoot at the end of this month and will feature archive footage and interviews with friends and families of the Irish victims of the attack.

BAI Publishes Guidance for Public Service Broadcasters
10 May 2011 | The BAI has published a new document entitled Guidance for Public Service Broadcasters (PSB) on the format of a code of fair trading practice. The document has come about as a result of Section 112 of the 2009 Broadcasting Act where each PSB must prepare a code of fair trading practice, setting out the principles that it shall apply when agreeing terms for the commissioning of programming material from independent producers.

Wild Bunch take ‘Shadow Dancer’ Int Sales Rights
09 May 2011 | French distribution company, Wild Bunch, have bought the international sale rights to new Irish co-production, ‘Shadow Dancer’ whilst Paramount Pictures will distribute the film in both the UK and Ireland. The Unanimous Entertainment/Element Pictures films stars Clive Owen (Children of Men), Andrea Riseborough (Made in Dagenham) and Gillian Anderson (The Last King of Scotland) will Irish actor Aidan Gillen (Wake Wood) and is set to shoot in Dublin at the end of this month.

Brendan Gleeson Joins ‘The Pirates’
05 May 2011 | Production is currently underway on ‘The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists’, an animated feature featuring the vocal talents of IFTA winner and Golden Globe nominee Brendan Gleeson (Into the Storm) alongside Martin Freeman (The Hobbit), David Tennant (Dr Who), Imelda Staunton (Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince), Jeremy Piven (Old School), Salma Hayek (Frida), Brian Blessed (Tarzan) and Ashley Jensen (How to Train Your Dragon).

Mind the Gap Prep ‘Irish Beauty Queens’
05 May 2011 | Mind the Gap Films are currently in pre-production on 2 x 50 minute documentary series, ‘The Last Irish Beauty Queens’ for TV3. The two-part series, directed and produced by Bill Hughes (Celebrity Jigs and Reels), will look at the culture of beauty pageants held in various small Irish towns around Ireland.

28 Apr 2011 | Irish animation will be brought even more to the fore on television screens from next week with the launch of Boulder Media’s new 40 x 11 minute 2D and 3D series, ‘The Amazing World of Gumball’ on The Cartoon Network on Monday, May 2nd and Monster Animation’s 20 x 7 minute series, ‘Punky’ on Tuesday, May 3rd.

Storyland Semi-Final Voting Now Open
28 Apr 2011 | The latest episodes from the four RTÉ Storyland semi-finalists have been uploaded on the Storyland site and online voting for the projects has commenced. Votes will be tallied for the four remaining projects, ‘Rent a Friend’; ‘Lucky Run’; ‘The Outlaw Concy Ryan’ and ‘The Last Security Man’ until Tuesday, May 2nd where the compeition’s finalists will be announced.

27 Apr 2011 | Irish actor Jonas Armstrong (Robin Hood) is currently shooting ‘Twenty8k’, a new feature which centres on London’s underground gangland culture. The feature’s six week shoot commenced in early April in various locations around London and sees Jonas starring alongside Parminder Nagra (Bend it Like Beckham) and Stephen Dillane (The Hours).

RTÉ Lifestyle seeks Autumn Programming Proposals
26 Apr 2011 | RTÉ Lifestyle is currently seeking program proposals for its Autumn broadcast line-up. Ideas are currently being sought for six time-slots including a 6 x 26 show with cross-platform potential; docu-soaps that could play at 7:00pm mid-week and a new multi-media format for RTÉ Two which will show weekdays, post-watershed. The proposal deadline is Tuesday, May 10th.

26 Apr 2011 | Irish actor Robert Sheehan and Irish presenter Graham Norton are among the nominees announced today, April 26th for this year's British Academy Television Awards. The former has been shortlisted in the category of Best Supporting Actor for his role as Nathan in ‘Misfits’ whilst Brendan O'Carroll's 'Mrs Brown's Boys' has been nominated in the category of Siuation Comedy and award show host, Graham Norton is nominated in the category of Entertainment Performance for ‘The Graham Norton Show’ which was further nominated in the group of Best Entertainment Programme.

CR Entertainment Merges With beActive Intl, 'The Knot' Feature In Production
21 Apr 2011 | CR Entertainment, the Irish production company behind multi-platform series such as ‘Aisling’s Diary’ and ‘Beat Generation’, has merged with Portuguese producer beActive Produções Interactivas resulting in a new company, entitled beActive International. The group is currently co-producing a feature film entitled ‘The Knot’ with plans to bring future film projects to Ireland.

Irish/Iranian Documentary 'Secret of Permanency' in Pre-Production
21 Apr 2011 | Ireland’s Cardel Entertainment is currently in pre-production with a new dramatised feature documentary entitled ‘Secret of Permanency’. The Irish/Iranian co-production is set to shoot in Iran in May and June and will be edited in Dublin’s Screen Scene.
