Short film ‘The Weather Report’ has been selected for The Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival in Schull, Co. Cork, on Friday May 23. The film’s cast includes IFTA nominee Edward MacLiam (‘Run & Jump’, ‘Holby City’) as Ted Sweeney and Marie Ruane (‘RAW’, ‘Foxes’) as Maureen Sweeney.
‘The Weather Report’ is a Galway Film Centre/RTÉ short film. The real life inspired drama centres on a mysterious phone call that doubts a routine weather report made by lighthouse keeper Ted Sweeney, leading his wife to question more than just the weather report.
The short had its premiere at the international Belfast Film Festival., which concluded last weekend. It will also screen at the upcoming Limerick Film Festival, at which it has been nominated for three awards – Best Camera, Best Director and Best Short film. It will be screened at 7pm on Friday 11 April in the Millenium Theatre, Limerick. See more on the festival programme here.
‘The Weather Report’ was written and directed by Paul Murphy and produced by Deirdre de Grae (Two For Joy Productions – RTÉ Storyland winners for ‘Lucky Run’). The film was shot entirely on location in the Blacksod Lighthouse in Belmullet, Co. Mayo, in 2013. Ivan Marcos was DOP and John Murphy was editor.
The film was a winner of the 2013 Galway Film Centre/RTÉ Short Film Award. Applications are now being accepted for the 2014 Award, see more here.
