Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for the film, which is an adaptation of a single chapter from Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
André Øvredal (Troll Hunter, The Autopsy of Jane Doe) is directing the film, with a screenplay by Bragi F. Schut (Samaritan) and Zak Olkewicz (Bullet Train).
The film is adapted from a single chapter of Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula, the Captain's Log, following the crew of the Demeter who are unaware they are transporting Dracula from Carpathia to London, and the strange events they experience as they attempt to survive the ocean voyage, stalked each night by a terrifying presence on board the ship.
IFTA winners Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones) and Aisling Franciosi (The Nightingale, God’s Creatures) star alongside Corey Hawkins (Straight Outta Compton), David Dastmalchian (The Dark Knight, Prisoners), and Chris Walley (The Young Offenders, 1917).
The film also stars Jon Jon Briones (Ratched), Stefan Kapicic (Deadpool, Better Call Saul), Martin Furulund (Monster), Nikolai Nikolaeff (Daredevil), Woody Norman (C’mon, C’mon), and Javier Botet (It) as Dracula/Nosferatu.
The film is produced by Brad Fischer and by Oscar-nominated producers Mike Medavoy and Arnold Messer for Phoenix Pictures and is executive produced by Matthew Hirsch.
The Last Voyage of The Demeter releases in Irish cinemas on August 18th, 2023.
