Sports Documentary ‘Jump Boys’ to air on Channel 4
The IFTA-nominated ‘Jump Boys’ documentary will reach a much wider audience as Channel 4 will broadcast it twice around this year’s Cheltenham festival coverage and it will also be available for anytime viewing on Channel 4’s popular 4OD player.
Originally commissioned by TG4, ‘Jump Boys’ has been re-cut fully into English. ‘Jump Boys’ will air immediately before the Cheltenham Champion Hurdle highlights at 11.45pm on the opening day of the festival, Tuesday 12th March, and it will also be aired on Saturday 9th March at 7am and it will then be available for anytime viewing on Channel 4’s 4OD player. ‘Jump Boys’ takes a candid look at the everyday lives of three of Ireland’s top jockeys. Ruby Walsh, Barry Geraghty and Davy Russell allowed exclusive fly-on-the-wall access into a National Hunt season from November 2011 to April 2012.
Multi-award winning Irish costume designer Joan Bergin has signed on to ‘A Little Chaos’
Joan Bergin has signed on as costume designer for the upcoming film ‘A Little Chaos’ and is set to design all costumes in Dublin using members of the team that built the costumes for Irish-shot ‘The Tudors’ and ‘Vikings’.
‘A Little Chaos’, written by Irish writer Alison Deegan, tells the story of Andre Le Nortre (Matthias Schonenaerts) who while designing the gardens at Versailles reluctantly employs a spirited young widow and gifted gardener (Kate Winslet). The story is set around the Court of Louis 14th (Alan Rickman) and shooting begins in London and Paris from mid April to mid June. Alan Rickman also directs.
Irish short film ‘No Messages’ wins Best Short Film award at the Canada International Film Festival
The crowd-funded short film 'No Messages' has won the Best Short Film Award at the Canada International Film Festival. Previously, 'No Messages' has won Best Script at the Underground Cinema Awards and was Runner-Up for Best Short at the Waterford Film Festival. The Canadian Festival marks the 10th festival outing for ‘No Messages’. It will screen next in the Lighthouse Cinema, Dublin on March 25th in aid of the Capuchin Day Centre and in competition at the Belfast Film Festival in April.
‘No Messages’ was written and directed by Cian McGarrigle, produced by Eoin Lynch and DOP was Colm Whelan. It stars Rory Connolly (Dublin Stories), David Murray (Amber, Batman Begins), Eric Lalor (Amber, Singlehood) & Lacy Moore (The Clinic, Emmerdale) and features music by the Choice Music Prize nominated artist Mumblin' Deaf Ro.
