Irish producer and director Rebecca O’Flanagan and Alan Maher, formerly of the Irish Film Board, are among a number of international producers and executives meeting with top Hollywood executives this week as part of the Inside Pictures’ training initiative.
The European film industry business training programme has flown 16 representatives from various film and TV companies across Europe to LA for the week-long event which got underway on Monday.
Maher was a production executive with the IFB up until the expiry of his contract in July. Although no longer in full-time employment with the film board, he is continuing to oversee projects that he had been involved with which have been offered IFB funding this year.
O’Flanagan is a company director and producer with Dublin-based Treasure Entertainment whose recent credits include ‘My Brothers’ and ‘Good Vibrations’.
Among the other 14 attendees are Gavin Humphries of Quark Films; Jasper van Hecke, international acquisitions director of Universal Pictures International; and Niall Shamma, finance director at Warp Films.
Inside Pictures is an initiative of Qwerty Films in partnership with Britain’s National Film & Television School. The programme receives funding from the MEDIA Programme and Creative Skillset.
