Deadpan Pictures announced today that Northern Lights will premiere on Tuesday, 14th November at 10:30 pm and will air weekly exclusively on TG4, with episodes available on TG4 Player after the premiere.
TG4 and Deadpan Pictures in association with Screen Ireland have announced that Stephen Jones’ Northern Lights will air exclusively on TG4, starting on November 14th. An official trailer for the six-part series starring Stephen Jones, Elva Trill, Jay Duffy and Jennifer Heylen has also been released.
Set in Dublin North City Centre’s Capel Street and Northside Quays, Northern Lights tells the story of two grieving strangers, Lloyd (Stephen Jones) and Áine (Elva Trill), whose worlds collide when Lloyd notices Áine standing on Grattan Bridge. Fearing the worst, he decides to intervene. A series of revelations, confessions, secrets and lies follow, leading to Lloyd and Áine becoming beacons of light for one another when they need it most.
Northern Lights is Stephen Jones’s (Love/ Hate, KIN, Red Rock) screenwriting debut. Jones stars as the haplessly optimistic Lloyd alongside Elva Trill (Line of Duty, Ripper Street, Jurassic World: Dominion, Starstruck) as Áine and Jay Duffy (Derry Girls, The Wheel of Time) who plays Seán.
Northern Lights is adapted from the original stage play by Stephen Jones and produced by Deadpan Pictures in Association with Lionsgate and Screen Ireland. The series is a co-production with ZDFneo and TG4, with the Support of Investment Incentives for the Irish Film Industry provided by the Government of Ireland, the Tax Shelter of the Belgian Federal Government, the Flanders Audiovisual Fund (VAF) of the Government of Flanders and Screen Flanders.
A premiere screening of Northern Lights’ first episode took place last night, Wednesday 1st November, in the Lighthouse Cinema, which was followed by a cast Q&A panel and drinks reception.
Northern Lights will begin airing weekly on TG4 from Tuesday, November 14th.
