Enzo d’Alò’s A Greyhound of a Girl has been nominated in the European Animated Feature Film category at the upcoming European Film Awards.
A Greyhound of a Girl received its World Premiere this year at the 73rd edition of the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) as part of the Generation Kplus 2023 programme. Based on Roddy Doyle's novel of the same name, the film is directed by Enzo d’Alò, and co-written by d’Alò and Dave Ingham.
The film follows Mary, an 11 year old with an insuppressible passion for cooking and a dream of becoming a great chef. Her grandmother Emer, with whom she has a very special relationship, encourages her to make this dream come true. Mary thus begins a journey across the barriers of time, in which four generations of women come together and get to know each other truly and deeply.
A Greyhound of a Girl stars Mia O'Connor, Charlene McKenna, Brendan Gleeson, Sharon Horgan and Rosaleen Linehan.
Adrien Chef, Paul Thiltges, Xenia Douglas, Mark Cumberton, Richard Gordon, Vilnis Kalnaellis, Riina Sildos and Artur Kubiczek are producing. The film is a co-production between Luxembourg, Italy, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Latvia, Estonia and Germany, and supported by Screen Ireland.
This year's European Film Awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, 9th December in Berlin. The Awards are presented jointly by the European Film Academy and European Film Academy Productions across 24 categories.
