The quirky Irish coming-of-age comedy drama will receive its World Premiere via the film’s Facebook event page on Friday, May 1st.
Set in small town Ireland in 1981, Dannyboytells the story of a young man trying to find love among New Romantics, Post Punks, Goths and other tribes. The film centres on Daniel, an anxious, stuttering teen in his attempt to save his demented family, in the midst of a compromising love triangle. Speaking to IFTN about the online premiere, producer Richie Kearney said:
“It’s our gift to everyone during this difficult time in locked down. We salute all the people staying at home. We also wish to play tribute to all the wonderful people on the front line including Nurses, Doctors and Medical staff, First Responders, Gardai, Postal staff, retail staff, cleaners, Chemists, ambulance personnel, everyone involved in keeping the country running and helping us stay safe.”
Dannyboy was written by Ferdia Mac Anna and Mary Duffin, with Mac Anna also directing the film.
