07 Oct 2016 : Katie McNeice
Host Amanda Byram
The annual awards ceremony takes place this evening at the DoubleTree Hotel in Dublin, where the very best of television talent in Ireland will be honoured by the Academy. It airs this Sunday on TV3 at 10pm and is one not to be missed.

Winners of the prestigious awards will be revealed tonight throughout the event, where seasoned TV Presenter Amanda Byram will host for the second consecutive year.

She will be joined on stage to honour award winners across twenty-three categories by some of the most distinguished figures in Irish television in this, one of the most fruitful years for Irish content on the small screen to date.

Bob Geldof, Jedward, Lucy Kennedy, Nadia Forde, Miriam O’Callaghan, Deirdre O’Kane, The Red Rock cast and The Rubberbandits are but a few of the familiar faces that will be seen on the red carpet this evening, and on the show next Sunday.

Undoubtedly the most esteemed guests of the evening are Pat Kenny and Micheál Ó Meallaigh, who are honorary award winners at tonight’s ceremony. Kenny is to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding body of work, in an incredible broadcasting career which has spanned almost five decades.

Ó Meallaigh is likewise to be awarded for Outstanding Contribution to the Industry and the Irish Language, with an astounding repertoire of Irish language content produced in his twenty years as Commissioning Director for TG4.

The Winner of the coveted Gala TV Rising Star Award, which has been voted on by the public in the last number of weeks, will also be revealed, with Nominees Darren Kennedy, Kevin McGahern, Máire Treasa Ní Dhubhgaill Al Porter, Angela Scanlon and Vogue Williams all in attendance tonight.
