The line-up for the 2016 Paris Co-Production Village has been unveiled, with Ian Fitzgibbon’s ‘Here Lies The Island’ one of only 12 entrants this year.
The village, a joint venture between Les Arcs European Film Festival and Champs Elysées Film Festival, will take place June 8-10 in Paris. The sole aim of the three day event is to connect international film-makers and producers with French production and sales partners.
Kevin Barry writes the script for the feature, which is based on his own collection of short stories. The acclaimed collection features 13 short stories about love and cruelty, crimes, desperation, and hope.
Michael Garland of Grand Pictures will produce.
Fitzgibbon’s last feature film was the 2011 ‘Death of A Superhero, which received an IFTA nomination for Best Film. Other acclaimed credits of his include ‘Perrier’s Bounty’ and ‘A Film With Me In It’. Since 2011, Fitzgibbon has directed the short ‘Breakfast Wine’ (also produced by Michael Garland of Grand Pictures) as well as the television dramas ‘Raised By Wolves’, ‘Nurse’ and Chris O’Dowd’s ‘Moone Boy’, which earned him an IFTA Award in 2014.
