DFEi students working on a project
The Dun Laoghaire Further Education Institute (DFEi) are to host an Open Day on Wednesday, January 20th from 10am to 4pm.

Dun Laoghaire Further Education Institute (DFEi) aims to provide comprehensive vocational training using practical course work though its programmes. Entry to courses is non CAO, and its pathway is through Online application via the www.dfei.ie website (applications open from mid- January 2016). This online application is followed by an informal interview, and registration.

2014-15 was a very successful year for students graduating from the level 5 QQI awards in Film & TV Production and Creative Digital Media Production, and the QQI Level 6 award in Film & TV Production in Dun Laoghaire Further Education Institute, with a very high number progressing to the degree programmes of their choice using the higher education links scheme via the CAO. Some of the destination colleges included: National Film School IADT, ITTallaght, DIT, DKIT and GMIT.

Production work is well under the way this year, with their level 5 students in both Film & TV and Creative Digital Media about to start filming their short films, also creating additional content for their portfolios and show reels. Students in the level 6 award in Film & TV Production have just completed their individual news reports on topics such as the commissioners of Irish Lights and the Lexicon in Dun Laoghaire. They also have completed short studio inserts, as well as their short individual non sync films. Keeping things busy the level 6 Film and TV are mid-way through producing four short documentaries, all the while starting to go into full production on the 8-12min short drama films which shoot February 2016.
