Moondance Productions ‘Recruits’ to air on RTÉ One on August 31 and September 1
27 Aug 2015 : Seán Brosnan
For the first time, cameras have been given unprecedented access behind the scenes with the Irish army
Moondance Productions (‘The Zoo’, ‘Firefighters’) new two-part documentary series ‘Recruits’, following a group of young men and women as they train to become soldiers in the Irish Defence Forces, is scheduled to air on RTÉ One on August 31st and September 1st.

The two hour series is directed by Shane Brennan who also serves as Series Producer. The show is produced by John Higgins with Niamh O Connor as Executive Producer. Andrew Hearne is video editor, Darragh McCarthy is DoP, script editor is Philip Davidson while Killian Fitzgerald is Dubbing Mixer. The series is narrated by Steve Wall.

For the first time, cameras have been given unprecedented access behind the scenes with the Irish army, following these young people on the most gruelling challenge of their lives. Out of the thousands who apply every year, only 40 are chosen to begin training.

This new documentary series travels with the recruits every step of the way, capturing every high and every low, from their individual struggles to the camaraderie, humour and friendship that helps them get through 17 weeks of punishing training.

The first part of ‘Recruits’ will air at 9.35pm on August 31st with part two airing on September 1st at the same time.
