Film Festival Round-up: 'Underground', 'Kinder' and 'OneTwoOneTwo'

IFTN takes a look at three film festivals of Irish interest from around the world - Melbourne Underground Film Festival, Tokyo's Kinder Film Festival and Light House's 'OneTwoOneTwo' music documentary film festival.

Melbourne Underground Film Festival

Irish Thriller, ‘The Late Men’, is set to Premiere at Melbourne Underground Film Festival which runs from September 6-14th.

‘The Late Men’ is an Irish thriller starring Don Baker (‘In the Name of the Father’), Stephen Cromwell ‘(Love/Hate’), and Tony Murphy (‘Charlie Casanova’).

The film, directed by Dubliner Van Poynton (‘Where the Monsters Go’), will screen in competition at this year’s event.

It was produced by Ciarán Fogarty, Luke Page and it was co-written by Poynton and Matthew J. Keat.

Tokyo Kinder Film Festival

‘Niko 2: Little Brother, Big Trouble’ Wins ‘Best Feature Film Award’ by the Kinder Jury at this year’s Tokyo Kinder Film Festival.

As a prize winner, the film will also be screened at the Tokyo Interntation Film Festival (Oct 17-25) in Japan.

Produced by Tidal Films, the film sees the little reindeer Niko as he meets his new family, battles to save Christmas, and fights off the White Wolf and her minion Eagles as she seeks revenge for the demise of her brother – the notorious Black Wolf.

The film is the sequel to the internationally successful ‘Niko and the Way to The Stars’(2008)

OneTwoOneTwo

The second annual ‘OneTwoOneTwo’ music documentary film festival programme has been released.

Curated by friends Cillian McDonell and Una Mullally, it features a selection of new and classic music documentary films and will take place at Light House Cinema from October 3rd – 6th 2013.

The festival features ‘Mistaken For Strangers Some Kind Of Monster’, ‘This Is Spinal Tap’, ‘Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer’, ‘Dave Chappelle’s Block Party’, ‘Sing Me The Songs That Say I Love You: A Concert For Kate’, and ‘Big Star: Nothing Can Hurt Me’.
