Following the announcement that Element Pictures’ Kinds of Kindness will premiere at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, first look images, a new teaser and a poster have been released for the upcoming Yorgos Lanthimos film.
Along with two other Element Pictures productions (September Says and On Becoming a Guinea Fowl) as well as another two Irish co-productions (The Surfer and The Apprentice), Kinds of Kindness will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival this May. The latest Element-Lanthimos collaboration will premiere in the film’s Main Competition strand.

The film is described as a “triptych fable, following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.”

Kinds of Kindness marks Lanthimos’ fifth collaboration with Irish production company Element Pictures, and his fourth with actor Emma Stone. The screenplay was co-written by Lanthimos and Efthimis Filippou (The Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer), and developed by Element Pictures and Film4.

Joining Stone in the film’s ensemble cast are Jesse Plemons (Killers of the Flower Moon), Willem Dafoe (Poor Things), Margaret Qualley (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood), Hong Chau (The Whale), Joe Alwyn (The Favourite), Mamoudou Athie (The Front Runner), and Hunter Schafer (Euphoria).

Element Pictures have released a poster for the film, and Searchlight Pictures have released a new teaser trailer for the film.

Kinds of Kindness will be released in Irish cinemas on June 28th, 2024.
