The Galway Film Fleadh is accepting entries for its live Pitching Awards up to 7th June for an event in which five short-listed applicants will pitch their film ideas to a panel of industry experts on 14th July.
Now in its 25th year, the Galway Film Fleadh will take place this 9th-14th July, with huge domestic and international interest in its marketplace and film fair.
A story pitching competition, the Pitching Awards is offering €3,000 to the winner to enable him/her to further develop their script and enhance their filmmaking skills.
To enter, applicants must submit a 500 word story idea for screen, which will then be assessed by an industry panel, before the finalists will be invited to present their idea in front of an audience on Sunday 14th July.
Annette Maye, Galway Film Fleadh, said: ‘For those selected, it is a golden opportunity to communicate their story, to bolster their confidence and to provide the first opportunity to win the crowd.’
An example of a past winner, who used the prize money to develop and expand his pitch into a feature film, is Will Collins whose ‘My Brothers’ was the opening film of the 2010 Galway Film Fleadh.
Pitching entries can be sent to: The Pitching Award, Galway Film Fleadh, 36D Merchants Dock, Merchants Road, Galway.
The deadline for submissions is Friday 7th June and entry forms are available online at: www.galwayfilmfleadh.com
The full Galway Film Fleadh programme will announced in mid-June.
