It’s ‘X Factor’ meets traditional music as TG4 announces its latest format ‘Scór Encore’ will premiere on February 24.
The original format will see the top performers from the GAA’s annual Scór Na nÓg competition battle it out to be crowned TG4’s most talented traditional performer.
Scór Na nÓg is a traditional music contest held by the GAA every year in which contestants perform traditional music, song, dance or performance, while representing their GAA club.
‘Scór Encore’, an RTÉ and Adare Media production for TG4, will have three judges; Roy Galvin, a former winner of the Senior Scór competition and a multi-instrumentalist; Méav Ní Mhaolchatha, a multi-million selling Irish singer and recording artist; and Aindrias De Stai, a multi-award winning actor, writer, comedian and musician.
TG4 will air 13 episodes, with Barbara Nic Dhonnacha hosting.
Tom Evans is the series producer, with Peter O’Doherty the director. Fiona Fitzpatrick and Criona O’Daly were the researchers on set. The series was filmed in RTÉ Studios.
‘Scór Encore’ airs Sunday, February 24.
