The Fingal Film Festival is holding a special Christmas-themed film and animation event to raise funds for Youth Mental Health Awareness in the Fingal area.

The Fingal Festival team, who kicked off their inaugural film festival last year, will run an all-day event on December 15 with film screenings, live music and live entertainment for kids.

A number of animations will also screen, with Oscar-nominated animation studio Brown Bag sponsoring the screenings.

Dave Byrne, creative director of the festival, said: “If what we do here can prevent even one young person from suffering alone, this event will be worth all of our effort. We encourage everybody from Fingal and around other communities beyond to support this event. You will have a great day. That’s guaranteed.”

The event is supported by Fingal County Council, Swords/Baldoyle Youth Services, Regional Drugs Task Force, the Fingal Leader Partnership and the Swords/ Balbriggan policing forums.

NuMu Promotions is organising all entertainment on the day, along with other key media organisations offering their support.

Byrne added: “With major plans already underway for their next 2013 Film Festival, the team at FFF felt passionately about raising an awareness of Metal Health issues among young people in Fingal. Having joined forces with the Youth Services, it was decided that through both organisations’ networks, it would be possible to kick-start an annual festival of animation and film screenings, live bands and kids’ entertainment.”

The event will take place at Fingal Community College, Seatown Rd, Swords on Saturday December 15. Activities will kick off at 12 noon until 11pm and a schedule of events can be found at www.fingalfilmfest.com in the coming days.

Tickets are priced at €5.00 per person or a discounted rate of €15.00 per family of two adults and two children or € 20.00 for two adults and three children. All money raised will go towards weekend counselling service for young people and also developing a programme where young people can develop a language around Mental Health issues.
