‘Game of Thrones’ actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has joined the cast of Irish co-production ‘A Thousand Times Goodnight’, which is currently shooting in Dublin.
The Danish actor, who plays Jaime Lannister on the hit HBO series, joins a cast led by French actress Juliette Binoche, who will play a war photographer named Rebekka who is torn between her job and family.
Norwegian director Erik Poppe is directing from a script by Harald Rosenlřw Eeg, which is inspired by Poppe’s own experiences as a war photographer.
Coster-Waldau recently starred in Morten Tyldum's acclaimed crime thriller ‘Headhunters’. No details as to his character in ‘A Thousand Times Goodnight’ have been made available as of yet.
As previously reported by IFTN, filming began in Dublin yesterday with the Irish leg of the shoot due to last for five weeks. The production will then move to Morocco for a further two weeks of filming.
‘A Thousand Times Goodnight’ is a co-production between Ireland’s Newgrange Pictures, Paradox in Norway and Zentropa International Sweden.
Jackie Larkin and Lesley McKimm will produce for Newgrange alongside Norwegian-based Finn Gjerdrum and Stein Kave for Paradox.
The feature’s budget is reportedly around €5m with the project having been offered €300,000 from the Irish Film Board in the last round of funding. The Norwegian Film Institute is also supporting the feature.
Irish crew attached to the project include costume designer Judith Williams, production designer Eleanor Wood and Irish casting agent Maureen Hughes.
