Tyrell Content Creation Tools continues to expand its business in the UK by striking deals with leading production facilities Envy and Prime Focus.

The technology solutions provider, with offices in Dublin and the UK, will provide London-based post house Envy with Avid ISIS shared storage solutions, which will be used on hit shows such as ‘Top Gear’.

The new equipment will take pride of place in Envy’s new 7,000 sq foot premises in Windmill Street in London. ‘Top Gear’ is one of the first series to be post-produced at the new site, while Envy’s previous work includes teaser trailers for Channel 4’s ‘Homeland’ and popular architectural series ‘Grand Designs’.

Tyrell will also provide Envy with Avid Media Composer editing software. As Envy’s Avid partner, Tyrell was appointed to supply and install 57 Media Composer Mojo DX systems on HP Z800 workstations connected to two 64TB ISIS 5000 shared storage systems.

Envy’s managing director Dave Cadle said: “A variety of factors have prompted the expansion, including increased client demand and also our appointment as one of the BBC’s preferred suppliers of post services for its current affairs output. Having worked closely with Tyrell on previous Avid projects we were always confident that they would supply us with equipment to the highest standards.”

Tyrell also supplied Prime Focus, also based in London, with Avid Solutions for Prime Focus’s work with Red Bee Media. Earlier this year Prime Focus was appointed to provide on-site editing, captioning and audio services to Red Bee Media to support its creative work for clients, which include the BBC and UKTV.

Tyrell supplied Prime Focus with six Avid Media Composer Nitris DX systems with AVC Intra and GenArts Sapphire Plug-ins and five Avid Media Composer Mojo DX systems, all running on HP Z800 machines. The 11 Avid suites were installed at a new facility at Red Bee Media’s Broadcast Centre in London.

Prime Focus, which has offices in London, LA and India, has worked on a number of global box office hits, including ‘Total Recall’ and Neil Jordan’s ‘Byzantium’.

Mark Lynn, managing director of Tyrell, said: “These deals prove there is positive growth in both offline and online solutions in the UK market and that once again Avid is foremost in our customer’s minds when making the decision to invest in new technology.”

In Ireland, Tyrell has supplied leading studios with production equipment, including RTÉ, TV3 and Windmill Lane and Screen Scene. To view Tyrell’s profile on IFTN click here.
