Veteran Irish actress Fionnula Flanagan (The Guard, Lost) will narrate Sónta’s upcoming documentary ‘Lón sa Spéir’ (English title ‘Men at Lunch’), it has been confirmed.
The IFTA Lifetime Achievement Award-recipient will narrate the Irish-language version for TG4, to be broadcast later this year.
Galway-based Sónta completed post-production earlier this year, just in time for the documentary to be chosen to screen at the Galway Film Fleadh on Friday July 13.
The documentary is based on the history of the iconic ‘Lunch atop a Skyscraper’ photograph, taken by Charles C. Ebbets in 1932. It follows two Irish men, Patrick O’Shaughnessy and Patrick Glynn, who travel to the Rockefeller building in New York to see first-hand the location where their fathers sat and ate lunch.
Sean Ó Cualáin (Mise Raiftearaí) directed the documentary and produced with Éamonn Ó Cualáin (Ceist GAA). Niall Murphy wrote the script and Reamonn Mac Donncha was the director of photography. The documentary was filmed in New York, Boston and Pittsburgh.
It will screen at the Galway Film Fleadh on July 13, and will be broadcast on TG4 later this year.
