Brendan Gleeson has been confirmed to join the cast of the forthcoming Smurfs sequel. The Dublin-born actor has been cast as Victor Doyle, the step-father to Neil Patrick Harris’ (How I Met Your Mother) character Patrick Winslow in the follow-up to last year’s hit comedy.

Gleeson, who recently voiced Gout in Ardman-animated feature ‘The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists’, is not the only new face to join ‘The Smurfs 2’. J.B. Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm) will also star in the sequel alongside Christina Ricci (Sleepy Hollow).
Other cast returning for the sequel include Neil Patrick Harris Sofia Vergara, Hank Azaria, Katy Perry and Alan Cumming.
