The deadline for the Irish Film Board (IFB) short animation scheme, Frameworks, has been announced. Applicants have until Friday 20th April to submit their projects to be in with a chance to receive up to €50,000 in funding from the IFB, in conjunction with the Arts Council, BAI and RTÉ.
Applications can be submitted in English or Irish, with the shorts not exceeding six minutes. Applicants are invited to enter up to five shorts, but may not receive funding through the Frameworks scheme more than three times in a 10-year period.
The format required is origination using any technique, and delivery should be on digi-beta, HD Cam or CDP. The IFB urges applicants to ensure their short animations provide a creative exploration which appeals to a broad audience.
Previous successful candidates from the Frameworks scheme includes the winner of this year’s IFTA for Best Animation, Kealan O’Rourke’s ‘The Boy in the Bubble’; as well as Brown Bag Films’ ‘Give Up Yer Aul Sins’ and ‘Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty’. Both of these animations received Academy Award nominations in the Best Animated Short Film category in 2002 and 2010.
Application forms and guidelines are available from the IFB website.
