Tyrone Productions and RTÉ Young Peoples have joined forces with Celtic FC’s prestigious Youth Academy to launch an Irish version of ‘Football’s Next Star’.
The format, which originated at SKY and has already successfully translated to the US market, will launch in Ireland with Celtic manager Neil Lennon and his coaching team traveling to Dublin and Limerick next month in order to hand pick ten talented young hopefuls. The prize is a place at Celtic’s Youth Academy and a chance to follow in the footsteps of Irish football stars Robbie Keane, Shay Given and Aidan McGeady.
Noleen Golding (OMG! Jedward’s Dream Factory) will produce and direct the project for Tyrone, she commented: “Throughout the series viewers will see the young footballers really develop their skills and start what is hopefully the beginning of a superstar career at Celtic FC!”
In addition to Neil Lennon the series presenter and special guest judges for Ireland’s ‘Football’s Next Star’ are still TBA. José Mourhino and Jamie Redknapp guest starred in the UK version of the series.
The 8 x 25 series is scheduled to broadcast in RTE Two’s autumn schedule.
